Analytics and Conversion Tracking
Conversion Tracking Setup for Australian Businesses
Measure the actions that matter—forms, calls, bookings, purchases and qualified leads—without treating every click as a conversion. Techtives documents, implements and tests analytics so reports can support better marketing decisions.

Who this is for
For teams that cannot confidently explain where leads come from
This service is useful when analytics totals do not match enquiries, the same action is counted more than once, Google Ads is optimising toward weak signals or reporting cannot separate a button click from a completed customer action.
What is included
Measurement that begins with a written definition
Measurement plan
We document important customer actions, event names, platforms, triggers, owners and the difference between a primary conversion and a diagnostic interaction.
GA4 and Tag Manager review
Property settings, data streams, tags, events, key events, referrals and common duplication risks are checked against the agreed plan.
Form, call and booking tracking
Primary enquiry paths are tested from the user action through to the platform report, using the most reliable confirmation point available.
Advertising conversions
Google Ads and supported campaign platforms receive selected conversion actions rather than every available analytics event.
Ecommerce measurement
Product, cart, checkout and purchase events can be reviewed where the platform and scope provide access to reliable transaction data.
Reporting and handover
The final setup includes a concise record of events, tests, known limitations and the checks required after website or tag changes.
How the work runs
Define, implement, test and reconcile
1. Define useful outcomes
Agree which actions represent enquiries, bookings or sales and which interactions are only supporting indicators.
2. Implement and test
Configure the approved events, test consent and device scenarios, and confirm that tags fire once at the intended point.
3. Compare with business records
Review analytics against form inboxes, call records, bookings, transactions or CRM stages to identify gaps and false positives.
Privacy and limitations
Accurate tracking still has boundaries
Consent choices, browser restrictions, ad blockers, cross-device journeys and platform attribution mean marketing systems will not produce one perfect version of the truth. Reports should document these limits and compare trends rather than force unrelated systems to match exactly.
Names, email addresses, phone numbers and other personal information should not be sent in analytics URLs or event parameters. The business remains responsible for its privacy obligations and should review the OAIC guidance on online tracking and marketing alongside legal advice appropriate to its situation.
Evidence and handover
What a completed tracking setup should leave behind
Evidence can include a measurement plan, tag and event inventory, dated test records, debug screenshots, platform screenshots and a list of known exceptions. A setup is not considered reliable simply because a tag manager says a tag fired.
After launch, tracking should be retested when forms, booking tools, checkout steps, consent tools, domains or campaign destinations change. Business-side lead quality remains essential because analytics cannot determine whether every enquiry was suitable.
Practical questions
Conversion tracking frequently asked questions
Why do GA4 and Google Ads show different totals?
They use different attribution, processing, consent and reporting rules. Some difference is expected; large unexplained gaps should be investigated.
Should every button click be a conversion?
No. A click may show intent but does not prove a completed call, form, booking or sale. Primary and supporting actions should be separated.
Can tracking recover historical data?
Usually not. Reliable reporting begins after the corrected setup is implemented and tested, although existing records can still provide context.
Do you guarantee perfectly complete data?
No. The aim is documented, decision-useful measurement with known limitations—not an unrealistic promise of complete observation.
